Experiments

In between larger projects I enjoy creating short animations. I find that this helps to loosen up my style and allows me to play around freely with colour and materials, while also honing my technical skills.

Warm, oil pastel chalk pastel and charcoal on paper, 2022

Warm is a collection of 5 short vignettes of my university house. I aimed to capture the upside of being in a student house during the height of the pandemic, the close bonds and warmth I feel for my housemates and the house itself. It was also a memory drawing exercise. I would stare at the image I wished to draw and then go into the separate room and draw the first frame. I would then hide that drawing away and continue to draw the next five frames at varying time intervals, never referencing the last frame or the object I had just drawn. Pictured below are the first and last frames of each animation.
